Our Story
From a teacher buying supplies out of pocket to a foundation committed to helping 150 students across the Anglophone East School District for 2025-2026 - how one person’s commitment grew into something that changes lives.

It started with a teacher who cared
In 2009, Sarah Dixon began her teaching career in New Brunswick and quickly noticed how many children arrived at school without basic supplies or proper clothing. She started buying what she could out of her own pocket - a few backpacks here, some notebooks there. That small act of kindness became the foundation for everything that followed.

From a handful of students to district-wide
What started as helping a few students in her own classroom grew year after year. Sarah formalized The Care Free Foundation as a registered charity, built partnerships with schools across the Anglophone East School District, and for the 2025-2026 school year, is committed to helping 150 students - working with teachers and staff to identify the children who need help most.
